In this video, I'll show you how to manage the movement of assets between asset groups in Asset Accountant.

You can perform an asset group transfer for an individual asset or in bulk via an upload sheet.

To transfer an individual asset from one asset group to another, select the relevant asset.

I'll search for my three-tier table.

In the top right-hand corner of the asset screen, select Transfer Group.

Enter the date and the name of the new group that you want to move it to.

Select Transfer, and that is how you transfer an individual asset from one asset group to another.

So Date and Group are the fields that you'll need to enter into a spreadsheet when you're uploading this to Asset Accountant.

In this template I've set up, the columns are Asset ID, Asset Code, Asset Name, New Transfer Date, Transfer Group.

You can have other fields in the spreadsheet if you wish. Blank rows, like I have here, don't matter.

Asset Accountant will ignore them unless there's data in these three fields.

I'm going to move some of my assets in the Computer Equipment group into the Furniture and Fittings group.

As I said, Asset Accountant will ignore all the blank rows. You can just leave those there and save.

In Asset Accountant, go to the Bulk Actions menu and choose Bulk Group Transfer and select the file for upload.

If there were multiple tabs in the spreadsheet, you could confirm the correct tab.

As there is only one, we can select the header row for the data.

I'll select to match by ID and match my other fields. Confirm the standard date format and you can see it's successfully updated the four assets from our upload.

Whether you perform a group transfer for an individual asset or whether you perform a bulk group transfer, the result is the same.

If we look up the three-tier table, you see that the original group, Computer Equipment, was assigned at first use.

After the group transfer from Computer Equipment to Furniture and Fittings, you can see that as of the date of the assignment, the group has been assigned correctly to Furniture and Fittings.
